VP, Learning

The primary responsibility of the VP, Learning is to provide strategic oversight to the Learning department at WealthCounsel.  This role is responsible for the development and delivery of high quality, relevant substantive education to members and prospective members. The position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with other members of the senior leadership team.


  • Provide strategic leadership to the Learning team including supervising and coordinating duties, performance planning and evaluation, determining staffing needs, resolving intradepartmental conflicts, and determining training needs

  • Work closely with Learning team editors to build and deliver a comprehensive annual education plan and comprehensive education calendar to ensure WealthCounsel consistently timely delivers relevant substantive education to members and prospects, including monthly Trusts & Estates webinars, monthly Business Law webinars, quarterly Thought Leader Series, and any other live, recorded, webcast, or LMS programming throughout the year

  • Coordinate all programming related to education events such as Symposium and the Summit

  • Timely develop and publish the Quarterly magazine

  • Oversee the Learning team’s review of all substantive content submitted by contractors, speakers, instructors, and all other contributors, including marketing pieces from the Marketing team

  • Work collaboratively with other functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, Member Experience, IT, and Platform to ensure company, members, and public are aware of Learning programming and to support cross-functional initiatives

  • Create and manage the annual Learning budget

  • Create product concept proposals and business cases to support new product development, including applying best practices in lifelong learning, monetization of offerings, and innovative delivery of legal education through new and different media, program length and program focus

  • Actively engage in collecting competitive intelligence to ensure WealthCounsel’s programming remains cutting edge and the best value in the market

  • Develop and execute overarching strategy and plan to connect new and existing software offerings with education

  • Work closely with sales and marketing teams to produce substantive promotional materials, demos, videos, tutorials and other tools to both help members get value from our services and promote WealthCounsel offerings to prospects

  • Teach and write on substantive topics and current developments


  • Juris Doctor

  • 5+ years’ experience in the estate planning industry

  • 5+ years using the Wealth Docx document drafting system preferred

  • Strong demonstrated ability to work effectively as an essential part of a team

  • Highly motivated and demonstrated superior self-control and discipline

  • Able to effectively lead a team of non-centralized employees to meet deadlines and consistently deliver high-quality strategic plans and content

  • Demonstrated leader among employees

  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrates excellent listening and problem-solving skills

  • Willingness and ability to travel
